BACKGROUND

In conjunction with the 64th Indonesian Independence Day and the 81st Indonesian Youth Pledge Day, the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok organizes the 2009 Bahasa Indonesia Speech Contest for Thailand Citizens.
The aims of the 2009 Bahasa Indonesia Speech Contest are:

1. To foster bilateral relations between Indonesia and Thailand,
2. To enhance Bahasa Indonesia capability among Thailand Citizens,
3. To promote soft power diplomacy and people-to-people contact,
4. To encourage Bahasa Indonesia as international language as well as ASEAN language.

The 2009 Bahasa Indonesia speech contest is open to Thailand students whom have studied Bahasa Indonesia, alumni Dharmasiswa Scholarship, alumni KNB Scholarship, recipients of other scholarship in Indonesia, and other Thailand citizens.
